oh courant
happy halloween, everyone!

Today is officially the day of the dead, but i'm worn out from a weekend of costumes, candy and jello shots...
In fact, there was so much mischief and mayhem that I've lost track of my baby camera, so I'll have to entertain you with some instagrams of my favorite halloween snapshots. {It's times likes this that I really love my iPhone!}

Spooky & festive skeleton garlands!

By far, most most favorite outfit of the night, possibly the weekend! So Princess Beatrice and Santa walk out of a bar....

Lastly, a shot of my MR-inspired jewelry! Moustache necklaces are the new thing, dontchaknow?
Just a teaser of my halloween costume, I'll add more pictures later of my Jacques O'Lantern costume!

Throwback picture of my halloween costume circa 1994...I was a girly girl even back then! I'm looking forward to seeing the neighbor hood kids dress up in their costume and to watch scary G-rated Halloween movies tonight; Nightmare Before Christmas, Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus.....

{any other suggestions?! }
Photobucket

And finally, I've joined October Follower's Fest, so be sure to check it out!

It's Saturday and I have errands to run, so I leave you with a short-and-sweet, and at times, slightly NSFW video entitled Mourir Auprès de Toi. This animated collaboration between director Spike Jones & fashion designer Olympia Le-Tan used over 3,000 pieces of felt to create the characters and scenery. Be sure to check out the classic novels that line the shelves which serve as the backdrop to this love story and see how many you can recognize. Très cool!

By now you know how much I absolutely adore autumn and everything that comes along with it! This past weekend was the perfect time & lovely weather to finally get together and enjoy some classically fall activties: pumpkin pickin', jack o'lantern-makin', and pie bakin'!

Once you find the weird squash, it's official: fall is here!

Little known fact: pumpkins make the best seats.

Such lovely {and unusually} decorated pumpkins, and a nice alternative to the typical carved jack o'lanterns!

Tumblr, Pinterest and even Martha Stewart.com had loads of creative and crafty ideas for pumpkin carving and decorating to suit almost everyone's taste {and skill range}. After hours of google-ing my own ideas, I eventually settled on a bat-inspired spooky face for my pumpkin.

The source of inspiration and my attempt at free-handing it...not too shabby.

The finished product, lights and all! The silver lining of being printerless and being unable to cut out my own stencil meant that I had to free-hand it myself. Mon dieu! Instant ego boost: it doesn't look half bad.

Although I'm convinced my jack o'lantern has a wonky eye (symmetry is overrated) I think hope she'll be a big hit come Monday night.  See how conveniently the bat wings of each eye curve out like eyelashes? This is definitely a female jack o'lantern. Jacqueline O'Lantern? You decide.

My attempt at an artists photo of my pumpkin rejects: seeds & bat-shaped eye cut-outs.

Pie-bakin' with a pizza-stone underneath to...catch the overflow? Whoops...

In an attempt to seem domestic, I decided to bake with some of the excess pumpkin flesh (yum) to make a pie. "The perfect end to a perfect day." Apparently I should stick to the canned goods instead. At least it looks good through the oven door, amiright?

happy fall, everyone! xox,

[disclaimer: this post features many firsts; my new JB-inspired bangs, my first attempt at an outdoor photoshoot and your first peek at my backyard. You. are. welcome.]

A few weeks ago, in the midst of a massive thrifting spree, my lovely friend Amanda and I discovered a new section of the store: pochos & shawls. It may have been the fatigue or overwhelming hunger that caused us to buy matching shawls, but I like to think the thrifting gods smiled upon us! {and our closets}

To the untrained eye, this might just look like a giant fringed squared-shaped blanket, but with a belt and a bit of patience it turned out to be the perfect knit cocoon of style. YUM. Plus it's so fun to twirl around in.

Yesterday's weather was perfect for some black-and-red shawl action, and I paired it with a pair of knee high black leather boots and leggings for a comfy and cosy autumn outfit. Fringe + reversible weave + comfy cotton make this the most fashionable blanket you'll ever wear.

Kimono sleeves.

Action shot.
The end.

I love how I can wear it as a shawl, or wrap a belt around and turn it into a jacket of sorts. Plus, the intarsia weave makes it reversible..twice as many options!

As a self-proclaimed francophile, I worship all things French (especially fashion), much to the disdain of mes amis who prefer all things (read: food) American and their conversations in English.

I can't help but look to the lovely Jane Birkin as one of my main style icons. She's the perfect embodiment of classic French style: her shaggy brown hair perfectly compliments her wardrobe très françaises of striped tops, flat boots and pea coats. {It helps that she has the perfect tall & slender physique to pull about anything off, flawlessly.}

This, let's admit it, hard core girl-crush has inspired me to take a pair of scissors to my own hair, on more than one occasssion in the search for a similar hairstyle. Today is no different: I'm ready for an adventure in self hair-cuts and trade my side-swept bangs for some blunt fringe...

Homegirl invented "boho-chic" and can make lace or chambray shirts look amazing and effortless. I mean, who else could pull off a naval-grazing lace evening gown look elegant without being trashy? Elle est la meilleure!

Who would have though a 30 minute commute would take me deep into the twilight zone? Every day brings another adventure fighting traffic and fellow drivers. Not cool.

At least I get to experience the equally crazy vanity plates and bumper stickers. Go ahead and enjoy.

reinvent.

fate works.

still counts.

So maybe snapping cell-phone photos while driving makes me equally as guilty of poor driving. Whoops.

Just a quick post today, because frankly it's Friday and the weather outside is g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s. I took a quick snapshot of my outfit to show you guys that I, a. i know how to match, and b. nail to sweater coordination is the new "match your purse to your shoes" rule to live by.

This metallic plum shade is my new favorite for fall. Now to see how long I can go without chipping it...

Happy Friday à tous!

This is the first post of it’s kind, but I can’t resist sharing these photos with you. Adorable does not even begin to describe what you all are in store for. There’s a story behind the pictures, but if you need a cute fix ASAP, scroll down.
A coworker of mine who loves practical jokes and email forwards was killing time in the break room when I went in for my morning caffeine fix and showed me a strange email she’d gotten with some ADORABLE (but strange) photos of a mother tiger at the zoo. The story went that she’d lost her cub of tigers and the zoo was at a lost as how to combat her depression. Enter the three little piglets (wearing animal print, obviously.) Mama tiger took a liking to the pip-squeaks and began to raise them as her own, despite the fact that they had curly tails and snouts. Whatever.
Without further ado....

So Daily Mail says its all a hoax and the pictures were staged in a zoo in Thailand. Do I care? Sure don’t. I’m still smiling at how cute these little munchkins look. Can we talk about that red bow for a minute?!

But if this isn't proof that animal print is always the answer, then you've learned nothing from me today.

So I didn't realize that it was my half birthday until my mom send me a congratulatory text at work...whatever.

It's the perfect excuse to finally show off a sheer cream dress I scored a while back. The only problem? It's sheer. Throw that sucker on over a basic black strappy dress, toss on some black peep-toe way too high heels and I'm set.

My most loyal readers will recognize that my photos look a bit different. Yeah, I upgraded. The move from bedroom to dining room was a no-brainer.

Fancy artwork? Check.
Using the flash on my camera correctly? Check.

Now if only I could figure out this pesky red-eye sit-u-ation...hmph.

Double-rings might just be my favorite new accessory! I'm also 99% positive that I'm wearing the dress backwards, but I tend to shy away from high-neck garments no matter how sheer.

EDIT EDIT: like the new page bar above? yea you betta'. now you can shop my closet directly from my blog  without any hassle. just set up a free paypal account to pay!

EDIT: check out my store here

If you didn't know, I'm going to Paris in January...and that place is expensive. So I'm cleaning out my well-endowed closet to make room for super expensive amazing French fashion that my new French boyfriend will buy me  a few things I can afford buy during les Soldes once I get there. That, or a new SLR so I can take better OOTD outfits for you to enjoy.

You pick.

So I've added a new module--TOP RIGHT y'all. I'll be updating it with new stuff...

Every six months I decide to buy something retail {let's not be foolish, i don't mean full-price} and these Dolce Vita 'Marcela' loafers are my latest pick.

So they break my rule of only buying practical shoes; they're light colored and suede which is such a problem for klutzy girls like me. Eventually shoe lust got the best of me and I through caution into the wind as soon as I clicked the "purchase" button. GOOD THING I DID.

I mean, how kick ass do these look?! Even better, they got the seal of approval from my beloved Free People, the cultivator of all things cool. Their lookbook last season paired these suckers with super-skinny ankle-length jeans, all the better to draw attention to your brand new, super-fly kicks.

Such a flirty shot...

They look more cement-grey than the picture above led me to believe, but I LOVE THEM nonetheless. Plus they earn major points for being insanely comfortable and their magical ability to make any outfit look so much more...put together. Can I make it any clearer? They're loafers that don't look douchey, and that my friends, is a nearly impossible task.

I absolutely love the perforated detailling on the toe--something to keep me distracted at work!

cheers,
