Paris has been unseasonably cold and rainy for the last month, leaving me with no other choice than to rock my winter tights and dream of sunshine that I can enjoy, bare-legged.

These adorable heart-shaped YSL tights are the perfect part of transition tights: fun enough to pair with summery dresses while still offering some coverage from this unseasonably cold temperatures. In light of the new name change over at chez Yves Saint Laurent, it may be time to get your hands on some whimsical (and almost giraffe-like) printed tights before YSL becomes simply, Saint Laurent Paris.

At 35€, on sale, they're a splurge but an adorable and completely necessary purchase, since I'm guessing you don't already own a pair. Paired with a classic black ensemble and a bold red purse, these suckers add a subtle touch of sass.

A self confessed hair idiot, I've been wearing the same Sienna Miller-inspired side bangs since high school, and regularly leave the house without brushing my hair. So you'll forgive me for only now jumping on the fish-tail braid bandwagon.

I love this tutorial from thebeautydepartment, co-founded by every girl's fashion icon, Lauren Conrad. Besides being constantly flawless, she's been setting the trend in hair braiding ever since her days on the guilty-pleasure Laguna Beach, single handedly inspiring girls around the world to french braid their side bangs. (At last, a chic way to grow out your fringe!)

My favorite styles have to be the two side braids, top left corner, for being so effortlessly cool.

How adorable are these letter-shaped birthday donuts?! While searching through some newly updated pins, I spied these delectable looking treats. As it just so happens, my mother turns "35" today. Oh, youth.  If you're still hungry, there are many more delicious pins in store.

Happy Birthday & Bonne Anniversaire to my lovely and inspiring maman!

Springtime in Paris has finally arrived, and the fleurs are in bloom. After patiently waiting five frozen months, succumbing to parisian peer pressure and wearing tights under shorts, and wearing sweaters in May, skirt day hit land last Thursday.

In the spirit of a cliche springtime in Paris, I paired a lightweight chambray top with a new favorite piece: a high waisted lace cream skirt. My latest obsession, the rentable Parisian bike system: Velib, has got me pedaling almost daily along the Seine, an easy and beautiful ride. The most enchanting part is how in the early afternoon, the sunlight bounces off of the water and onto the nearby buildings. In honor of this, I find myself wearing more jewelry and sparkles than ever before.

Just a few blocks from the Metro station St-Paul, this colorful shop always catches my eye with their latest window displays. At first drawn to the rainbow-organized rows of trim and ribbons, I fell in love with the spool-legged bookshelf: the perfect mix of whimsy and practicality. Now if only I had the space for it!

Always one for a new adventure, I ventured to the 11e arrondissement after a friend of mine swore to me that the 11e was in fact, "vrai Paris." Five months into my happy life in the 16e, my territorial instincts set in.

What makes the 11e any more Parisian than the 16e or the 7e or even the 4e for that matter? How does it get more Parisian than walking past the Eiffel Tower?!

After I had taking some time to reflect, I decided the best way to discover the 11e would be to get lost in it. No less than ten minutes into my adventure, a peek of bright graffiti caught my eye and I stumbled across my new favorite street: rue Dénoyez.

These street of artists' studios and residences in full of excited and ever-changing street art. Every square inch of wall space is covered in funky graffiti, tags and murals, while the trash cans and sidewalks are covered in mosaic tiles.

There is no shortage of creativity: stenciled designs and layers of plastered posters and pamphlets cover every available surface, leaving one to wonder how these artists reach such {physical} heights. As if the colors aren't enough, this street plays host to fairs, gallery exhibitions and most enticingly, vide greniers. This French equivalent of a trunk//rummage//yard sale always has a bizarre and surprisingly strange selection of clothing, furniture and knick knacks.

When you get exhausted from photographing as much as you possibly can, grab a drink at the corner resto, Aux Folies, where the interior is sure to inspire you just as much as the exterior. Don't expect great service, we are in France after all, but load up on the free city guides and music concerts that are piled in the back corner.

One of the best parts of being an au pair for a little French girl is getting to dress her up in adorable outfits. There is something very Madeline and Miss Clavel about chasing her around, waiting to see how long she can keep her outfits clean. (The answer: never for very long: fifteen minutes tops.) Not a day goes by that I don't pass a sweet shop with window displays featuring sweet pink top and ruffled outfits for the most fashionable of the the Parisian toddlers.

In the land of boys and polo tops, it's fun to play pretend and leaf through the catalogs that wind up in our mailbox, filled with the latest fashions out of Europe. My new favorite brand that has me wishing I could still fit a size 6T is mini Boden, a British brand that makes adorably bright printed tops & fun swimsuits. In the ideal world where I can drop 30 euros on a top, I'd be shopping exclusively at mini Boden.

Cue photos, I've left you hanging in long enough.

In true fashion, my favorite picks are mostly striped pieces! The bright colors and fun prints make me want to be a kid again! Or at least, start shopping in the kids' section...

{clockwise from top left}

1. There are exactly zero hats in my closet, but I would attempt a floral hat/striped top outfit any day. Extra points for matching the lining to your outfit.
2. Every cool kid needs a graphic//embellished tee, and this one is all the more adorable covered in snacks and desserts!
3. A striped one-piece halter suit with a neon ruffle around the neck, proof that combining trends can work.
4. Denim shorts with bleached white stars. Win.
5. A fun striped hoodie in colors that clash, in a good way. Who knew it was possible.
6. Metallic gladiators for little baby feet.
7. Polka dot shorts with heart-shaped back pockets. Adorable is not enough.
8. Striped sweater. Pink. Pears. Love.
