je vais prendre le moutard!

sorry for the delay, it's been awhile. as you may be able to tell by now, i am a fully established francophile writer who enjoys food. lunch time today was the perfect time to experiment with a recipe I had come across during my time living in a french home.

my Parisian housemother served very, very small portions of unusual food, but one staple of our diet was a salad of mixed greens and a tangy salad dressing. I came to discover that this was a mixture of equal parts olive oil and dijon mustard. today's lunch inspired my own foray into making my own version.

my own kitchen yielded some simple ingredients, and my first attempt was interesting and delicious, yet lacked my lusted-after french flavor. I eyeballed 1 part of mustard to 3 parts olive oil and 1 part rice vinegar.

google searching on the interwebs lead me to the site, fodder & libations, check out their version below.

i don't know if i'll add the herbes, and may choose olive over vegetable oil, because thats how les françaises do. perhaps I will never match the smokey flavor of Mme's own concoction, but it seems that I can try a bunch of new samples, while following the same general formula.
