FAQs

I've been blogging for about seventeen years--no, not really, but that's how the song would go if Ratatat had written it about me. It always shocks me when people are interested in what I have to say, so for your own amusement, I've compiled a list of common questions and answers that I receive. (I've taken quite the artistic license in editing/creating these questions. Enjoy.)
Q. I'm confused, you live in Paris? But you're American. Tell me more.
A. I sure do! I moved from D.C. to Paris in the beginning of January  2012 to work as an au pair for a family. As is regulated by the government, I work only 30-35 hours per week:  taking the children to school, preparing meals, doing the laundry and minor housework.

Q. What did you do before the big move?

A. I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in American History with a double-minor in Art History and French language. After six months interning at a textile conservation institute, I realized my love for costumes and polymer science. I'll be perfecting my French over the next year and applying to Master's programs in the field of Museum Studies with a concentration in Textiles.

Q. Who takes your photos?
A. From the poor quality, you must be able to tell that I take all of my own photos with a relatively new Nikon D90, which I bought as a going-away present for myself for Christmas.
Q. Your blog is kind of all over the place! What is the main purpose of We're Au Courant?
A. Yeah girl, it is. Did you not read my manifesto? Over the past two years or so, I realized my deep interest in textiles, and after a severe addiction to thrifting shopping, I decided to start a blog that merged the two. While I've taken it in many different directions (the most recent being my move to Paris), I'm always concerned with subjects that are related to textiles, be it polymer science, the latest haute couture fashions or simply street style that I manage to capture on film.
